Auf dem See / Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Auf dem See

Und frische Nahrung, neues Blut
Saug' ich aus freier Welt
Wie ist Natur so hold und gut,
Die mich am Busen hält!
Die Welle wieget unsern Kahn
Im Rudertakt hinauf,
Und Berge, wolkig, himmelan,
Begegnen unserm Lauf.

Aug', mein Aug', was sinkst du nieder?
Goldne Träume, kommt ihr wieder?
Weg, du Traum! so gold du bist;
Hier auch Lieb' und Leben ist.

Auf der Welle blinken
Tausend schwebende Sterne
Weiche Nebel trinken
Rings die türmende Ferne;
Morgenwind umflügelt
Die beschattete Bucht
Und im See bespiegelt
Sich die reifende Frucht.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: Auf dem See (1775/1789)

On the Lake

And here I drink new blood, fresh food
From world so free, so blest;
How sweet is nature and how good
Who holds me to her breast!

The waves are cradling up our boat,
The oars are beating time;
Mountains we meet that seem afloat
In heav'nly clouds sublime.

Why, my eye, art downward turning?
Golden dreams, are ye returning?
Dream, though gold, I thee repel;
Love and life here also dwell.

Neath the waves are sinking
Stars from heaven sparkling;
Soft white mists are drinking,
Distance towering, darkling,

Morning wind is fanning
Trees by the bay that root,
And its image scanning
Is the ripening fruit.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

On the Lake

And I draw in fresh sustenance,
New blood from the untrammeled world:
How gracious and generous is nature,
Who holds me to her bosom!
The wave sways our boat
To the rhythm of the oars,
And mountains, nebulously reaching for heaven,
Meet our course.

Eye of mine, why are you downcast?
Golden dreams, have you returned?
Away dream, golden though you are:
Here, too, there are love and life.

A thousand hovering stars twinkle on the wave,
Soft mists drink the towering horizon around us,
The morning breeze flutters over the shaded bay,
And the lake reflects the ripening fruit.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

On the Lake

I DRINK fresh nourishment, new blood

From out this world more free;
The Nature is so kind and good

That to her breast clasps me!
The billows toss our bark on high,

And with our oars keep time,
While cloudy mountains tow'rd the sky

Before our progress climb.

Say, mine eye, why sink'st thou down?
Golden visions, are ye flown?

Hence, thou dream, tho' golden-twin'd;

Here, too, love and life I find.

Over the waters are blinking

Many a thousand fair star;
Gentle mists are drinking

Round the horizon afar.
Round the shady creek lightly

Morning zephyrs awake,
And the ripen'd fruit brightly

Mirrors itself in the lake.

Ed io suggo fresco nutrimento e sangue nuovo
Da questo vasto mondo;
Come è cortese e benevola la Natura;
Che mi vincola al suo petto!
Le onde cullano in su e in giù la nostra barca
Al ritmo dei remi,
E librandosi,i monti coperti di nuvole
Ci vengono incontro nella nostra corsa.

Occhi miei occhi perchè vi abbassate?
Sogni d'oro, ritornerete?
Vattene,sogno! benche tu sia d'oro;
C'è amore qui ed anche vita.

Sulle onde si libranono scintillando
Mille stelle brillanti;
Tenere nebbie bevono
Le distanze incombenti;
La brezza del mattino vola intorno
Alla baia ombrosa
E nel lago
Si rispecchia il frutto che matura.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Gölde

Taze doğa, temiz kan
Emiyorum hür dünyadan;
Nasıl da tatlı yakına yaranan,
Beni göğsünde tutan!
Dalga sallıyor kayığımızı
Küreklerin çekmesiyle yukarı,
Ve tepeler, semada bulutlu,
Karşılıyorlar akışımızı umutlu.

Ahu gözlüm, birden eğrilirsin aşağı?
Altın hayaller, dönermisiniz yine geri?
Yol, Rüya! Sen kadar zerrin sarı;
Aşk ve hayat burada, işte yeri.

Hercai yüzeyde parıldıyor
Onlarca süzülen yıldızlar,
Yumuşak sislerden içiliyor
Etraftaki yığılmış uzaklar;
Meltemle kuşanmış oy!
Gölgeler altındaki koy,
Aha ayna yansıyor gölde
Olgunlaşırken bir meyve.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

(1784, Lili Schönemann´a olan sevdasını anlatır.)
