Las Muchachas / Pablo Neruda

LAS MUCHACHAS

Muchachas que buscabais
el gran amor, el gran amor terrible,
qué ha pasado, muchachas?

Tal vez

Y ahora
tocas el agua con tus pies pequeños,
con tu pequeño corazón
y no sabes qué hacer!

Son mejores
ciertos viajes nocturnos,
ciertos departamentos,
ciertos divertidísimos paseos,
ciertos bailes sin mayor consecuencia
que continuar el viaje!

Muérete de miedo o de frío,
o de duda,
que yo con mis grandes pasos
la encontraré,
dentro de ti
o lejos de ti,
y ella me encontrará,
la que no temblará frente al amor,
la que estará fundida
conmigo
en la vida o la muerte!

Pablo Neruda - (Los versos del capitán, 1952)

GIRLS

You girls who were seeking
the great love, the great and terrible love,
what has happened, girls?

Perhaps
time, time!

Because now,
here it is, see how it passes
dragging the heavenly stones,
destroying flowers and leaves,
with a noise of foam lashed
against all the stones of your world,
with a smell of sperm and jasmine,
next to the bleeding moon!

And now
you touch the water with your little feet,
with your little heart
and you do not know what to do !

Better are
certain night journeys,
certain compartments,
certain most amusing walks,
certain dances with no greater consequence
than to continue the journey!

Die of fear or of cold,
or of doubt,

for I with my huge steps
will find her,
within you
or far from you,
and she will find me,
she who will not tremble in the face of love,
she who will be fused
with me
in life or death!

Pablo Neruda - (The Captain's Verses, 1952)

LE RAGAZZE

Ragazze che cercavate
il grande amore, il grande amor terribile,
ch’è successo, ragazze?

Forse
il tempo, il tempo!

Perché ora,
è qui, guardate come passa
trascinando le pietre celesti,
rompendo fiori e foglie,

E ora
tocchi l’acqua con i tuoi piccoli piedi,
con il tuo piccolo cuore,
e non sai che fare!

Son migliori
certi viaggi notturni,
certi scompartimenti,
certe divertentissime passeggiate,
certi balli senz’altra conseguenza
che continuare il viaggio!

Muori di paura o di freddo,
o di dubbio;
io, con i miei grandi passi,
la troverò,
dentro di tè,
o lungi da tè,
e lei mi troverà,
lei che non tremerà davanti all’amore,
lei che sarà fusa
con me
nella vita o nella morte!

KIZLAR

Sizler, büyük aşkı arayan kızlar,
o korkunç büyük aşkı,
ne oldu sizlere böyle, ey kızlar?

Belki,
zaman, zaman!

Çünkü şimdi
burada, bak, nasıl gider
ve sürükler göksel taşları yerinden
ve mahveder çiçekleri ve yaprakları
köpüklenen bir köpük gürültüsüyle
senin dünyanın bütün taşlarında
atmıktan ve yaseminlerden bir rayihayla,
o kanlı aya yakın.

Ve şimdi
ne yapacağını bilmeksizin
dokunursun suya küçük ayaklarınla,
küçük yüreğinle?

Yolculuğu sürdürmektense
bazı gece yolculukları
daha iyidir,
bazı vagonlarla,
bazı çok şen gezintilerle,
büyük sonuçlar olmaksızın bazı danslar!

Öl öyleyse korkudan ya da soğuktan,
ya da şüpheden
ki ben büyük adımlarımla
bulayım onu,
senin içinde,
ya da senin çok uzağında,
ve bulsun o beni,
aşkın üzerinde titremeyen o,
hayatta ya da ölümde
benimle birlikte
erimek isteyen o.

Her Kind / Anne Sexton

Her Kind

I have gone out, a possessed witch,
haunting the black air, braver at night;
dreaming evil, I have done my hitch
over the plain houses, light by light:
lonely thing, twelve-fingered, out of mind.
A woman like that is not a woman, quite.
I have been her kind.

I have found the warm caves in the woods,
filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves,
closets, silks, innumerable goods;
fixed the suppers for the worms and the elves:
whining, rearranging the disaligned.
A woman like that is misunderstood.
I have been her kind.

I have ridden in your cart, driver,
waved my nude arms at villages going by,
learning the last bright routes, survivor
where your flames still bite my thigh
and my ribs crack where your wheels wind.
A woman like that is not ashamed to die.
I have been her kind.

Anne Sexton

De ésas

He salido al mundo, una bruja poseída,
rondando el aire negro, más valiente por ello;
soñando el mal, he sobrevolado

de armarios, sedas, de incontables bienes;

He viajado contigo, carretero, saludando

He salido, bruja posesa,
persiguiendo el aire oscuro, más valiente de noche;
soñando malvada, he prestado mis servicios

armarios, sedas, innumerables objetos;
preparado cenas para los gusanos y elfos:
lloriqueando, reorganizando el desacuerdo.
Una mujer así es incomprendida.
He sido de esas.

He cabalgado en tu carretilla, conductora,

Anne Sexton

De esa calaña

He salido, una bruja poseída,

armarios, sedas, innumerables bienes;

He viajado en tu carro, conductor,

stanzini, sete, innumerevoli oggetti;

in volo sopra le case, luce dopo luce;

e armadietti, stoffe di seta, un’infinità di oggetti;

hantant l’air noir, plus courageuse la nuit ;

de placards, de soieries, d’innombrables biens ;

uğursuzluk tutkunu, gece daha yürekli;
şeytanı düşleyerek, yaptım tersliğimi
kır evlerinin üstünden, ışıktan ışığa;
kimsesiz şey, on iki parmaklı akıl fukarası.
Böyle bir kadın tam kadın değildir.
Ben böyle birisi oldum.

Sıcak mağaralar buldum ağaçlar arasında,
tavalar, oymalar, raflarla doldurdum
gömme dolaplar, ipekler, bir sürü öte beriyle;
akşam çorbası pişirdim kurtlar ve periler;
yola getirdim yoldan çıkmışı.
Böyle bir kadın yanlış anlaşılır:
Ben böyle birisi oldum.

Arabana bindim, arabacı.
çıplak kollarımı salladım geçtiğimiz köylerde,
son ışıklı yolları keşfederek; hayatta kaldım
ateşinin hala kalçalarımı ısırdığı yere
ve tekerlerin döndükçe kaburgalarımın kırıldığı.
Böyle bir kadın ölmekten utanmaz.
Ben böyle birisi oldum.

Böyle Bir Kadın

Çıktım dışarıya, gecede daha bir gözüpek,
ben, ecinni bir cadı, kasvetli göğe müptela;
çirkin evlerin üzerlerinde ışık ışığa
yaptım aksiliğimi şeytanı düşleyerek:
Yalnız başına, oniki parmaklı, ırak gönülden.
Böyle bir kadın kadın sayılmaz pek.
Böyle bir kadın oldum ben.

Buldum ormanda sıcacık inler,
koydum içlerine, kap kacak, nakış, dolap,
raf, ipekli, eşyalar ki bîhesap;
sofra düzeni kurdum kurtlar ve cinler
için ağlayarak, başıboşu hizaya soktum yeniden.
Yanlış anlaşılır böylesi kadınlar.
Böyle bir kadın oldum ben.

Atlı arabana bindim, arabacı,
çıplak kollarımı salladım köyler boyunca
öğrenerek ışıklı son yolları tutundum hayata
verdiği yerde alevlerinin bacaklarıma hâlâ acı
ve kırıldı kaburgalarım tekerleklerinin geçtiği yerden.
Böyle bir kadın duymaz ölüm utancı.
Böyle bir kadın oldum ben.

When Man Enters Woman / Anne Sexton

WHEN MAN ENTERS WOMAN

When man,
enters woman,
like the surf biting the shore,
again and again,
and the woman opens her mouth with pleasure
and her teeth gleam
like the alphabet,
Logos appears milking a star,
and the man
inside of woman
ties a knot
so that they will
never again be separate
and the woman
climbs into a flower
and swallows its stem
and Logos appears
and unleashes their rivers.

This man,
this woman
with their double hunger,
have tried to reach through
the curtain of God
and briefly they have,
though God
in His perversity
unties the knot.

Anne Sexton

y Logos aparece
y desata los ríos.

Este hombre,
esta mujer
con su doble hambre,
han procurado penetrar
la cortina de Dios,
lo cual brevemente
han logrado
aunque Dios
en su perversidad
deshace el nudo.

Anne Sexton

QUANDO L’UOMO ENTRA NELLA DONNA

Quando l’uomo
entra nella donna
come l’onda scava la riva,
ripetutamente,
e la donna, godendo, apre la bocca
e i denti le luccicano
come un alfabeto,
il Logos appare mungendo una stella,
e l’uomo
dentro la donna
stringe un nodo
perché mai più loro due
si separino
e la donna si fa fiore
che inghiotte il suo gambo
e il Logos appare
e sguinzaglia i loro fiumi.

Quest’uomo e questa donna
con la loro duplice fame
hanno cercato di spingersi oltre
la cortina di Dio, e ci sono
riusciti per un momento,
anche se poi Dio
nella sua perversione
scioglie il nodo.

Riding the Elevator Into the Sky / Anne Sexton

RIDING THE ELEVATOR INTO THE SKY

As the fireman said:
Don't book a room over the fifth floor
in any hotel in New York.
They have ladders that will reach further
but no one will climb them.
As the New York Times said:
The elevator always seeks out
the floor of the fire
and automatically opens
and won't shut.
These are the warnings
that you must forget
if you're climbing out of yourself.
If you're going to smash into the sky.

Many times I've gone past
the fifth floor,
cranking upward,
but only once
have I gone all the way up.
Sixtieth floor:
small plants and swans bending
into their grave.
Floor two hundred:
mountains with the patience of a cat,
silence wearing its sneakers.
Floor five hundred:
messages and letters centuries old,
birds to drink,
a kitchen of clouds.
Floor six thousand:
the stars,
skeletons on fire,
their arms singing.
And a key,
a very large key,
that opens something —
some useful door —
somewhere —
up there.

Anne Sexton

GÖKYÜZÜNE ASANSÖRLE ÇIKMAK

İtfaiyecinin dediği gibi:
New York'da bir otelde
beşinci katın üstünde bir oda tutmayın.
Merdivenleri vardır onların öteye ulaşmaya
ama kimse tirmanamayacak onlara.
New York Times'ın dediği gibi:
Asansör her zaman arayıp bulur
yangın katını
ve otomatik olarak açılır
ve kapanmaz.
Unutmanız gereken
uyarılardır bunlar
eğer kendinizden kurtulmaya çalışıyorsanız
göğün içine çarpmaya gidecekseniz.

Çoğu zaman geçtim
beşinci katı
kolu yukarı doğru çevirerek
ama yalnızca bir kez
hepsine çıktım.
Altıncı kat:
küçük bitkiler ve kuğular kıvrılmışlar
mezarlarının içinde
Kat iki yüz:
kedi sabrıyla dağlar,
spor ayakkabılarını giymiş sessizlik.
Kat beş yüz:
mesajlar ve mektuplar yüzyıl yaşında
bulutlar mutfağından
içmek için kuşlar.
Kat altı bin:
Yıldızlar,
ateşte iskeletler,
onların şarkı söyleyen kolları.
Ve bir anahtar,
çok büyük bir anahtar,
bir şeyi açan -
yararlı bir kapıyı -
bir yerde -
orada yukarıda.

The Fish That Walked / Anne Sexton

THE FISH THAT WALKED

Up from oysters
and the confused weeds,
out of the tears of God,
the wounding tides,
he came.
He became a hunter of roots
and breathed like a man.
He ruffled through the grasses
and became known to the sky.
I stood close and watched it all.
Beg pardon, he said
but you have skin divers,
you have hooks and nets,
so why shouldn’t I
enter your element for a moment?
Though it is curious here,
usually awkward to walk.
It is without grace.
There is no rhythm
in this country of dirt.

And I said to him:
From some country
that I have misplaced
I can recall a few things…
but the light of the kitchen
gets in the way.
Yet there was a dance
when I kneaded the bread
there was a song my mother
used to sing…
And the salt of God’s belly
where I floated in a cup of darkness.
I long for your country, fish.

The fish replied:
You must be a poet,
a lady of evil luck
desiring to be what you are not,
longing to be
what you can only visit.

Anne Sexton

IL PESCE CHE CAMMINAVA

Da valve d’ostriche
e da scompiglio d’alghe,
dalle lacrime di Dio,
da maree che sfigurano,
egli venne.
avete ami e reti,
allora perché io non dovrei
entrare nel vostro elemento per un momento?
Anche se camminare qui è strano
e mi sento insolitamente goffo,
e sgraziato.
Non c'è ritmo
in questo paese di polvere.

Ed io gli dissi:
di un certo paese
da cui fui smarrita
posso rievocare qualcosa...
ma la luce di cucina
intanto l'impedisce.
Eppure c'era una danza
quando impastavo il pane,
c'era una canzone che mia madre
soleva cantare...
E il sale della pancia di Dio
dove galleggiavo in una tazza di tenebre.
Ho nostalgia del tuo paese, pesce.

E il pesce replicò:
tu devi essere una poetessa,
una signora di mala fortuna,
che desidera essere quel che non è,
che si strugge per essere
soltanto una figura.

YÜRÜYEN BALIK

İstiridyeler ve
karman çorman yabani otların üstünden,
Tanrı'nın gözyaşlarından,
yaralanmış gel-gitlerden,
o geldi.
Köklerin avcısı oldu
ve bir insan gibi nefes aldı.
Çimenleri dalgalandırdı
ve gökyüzünce tanındı.
Yakın durdum ve onu izledim.
Kusura bakmayın dedi
sizin balıkadamlarınız var,
kancalarınız ve ağlarınız var,
öyleyse neden ben bir dakika için
sizin bir parçanız olmayayım?
Meraklı olmasına rağmen burada
yürümekte aşırı derecede beceriksiz.
Zarafetten yoksun.
Ritm yok
bu kir ülkesinde.

Ve ona dedim ki:
Kaybolduğum
bazı ülkelerden
birkaç şey anımsayabilirim
ama mutfağın ışığı
araya giriyor.
Oysaki ben ekmeği yoğururken
bir dans vardı orada
annemin söylemeye alışkın olduğu
bir şarkı vardı orada...
Ve karanlıkta yüzdüğüm bir fincan
Tanrı'nın göbeğinin tuzu
sizin ülkenize can atıyorum, balık.

Balık yanıtladı:
Sen bir şair olmalısın,
kötü şansın hanımefendisi
olmadığın şeyi olmak istiyorsun
özlem duyarak olmaya
yalnızca ziyaret edebileceğin şeyi.

Si Dios fuera mujer / Mario Benedetti

SI DIOS FUERA MUJER

¿y si Dios fuera una mujer?

Juan Gelman

WHAT IF GOD WERE A WOMAN

What if God was a woman?

Juan Gelman

What if God was a woman?
Ask Juan undeterred.

Go go, if God was a woman
It is possible that agnostics and atheists
No we said no with head
And we said yes with guts.

Maybe we approached to its divine nudity
For kissing his feet not of bronze
Her pubis not of stone
Her breasts not of marble
Her lips not of plaster.

If God was a woman, we embrace her
The distance to boot your
And we should not swear
Until death take us away
Since it would be immortal quintessential
And instead of transmitting AIDS or panic
We rub off their immortality.

If God was a woman not be installed
Far in the kingdom of heaven
But we wait in the vestibule of hell
With your open arms
Its pink that isn't plastic
And her love not of angels.

Oh my God, my God
If until forever and from always
You were a woman
How nice scandal it would be
What fortunate splendid impossible
Prodigious blasphemy.

EĞER TANRI KADINSA

Ya tanrı bir kadınsa?

Juan Gelman

Ya tanrı bir kadınsa?
diye soruyor juan utanmadan.

Hadi canım hadi eğer tanrı kadın olsa
Muhtemelen biz agnostikler ve ateistler
öyle başımızla hayır demek yerine
hep birlikte evet derdik tüm kalbimizle

Belki iyice yaklaşırdık o tanrısal çıplaklığının
bronzdan olmayan ayaklarını öpmek için
taştan olmayan venüs tümseğini
mermerden olmayan memelerini

meleklere has olmayan bir aşkla elbette

ah tanrım ah tanrım
gerçekten kadınsan eğer
ezelden beridir ve ebediyen
ne güzel skandal olurdu bu
ne talihli ne muhteşem ne imkansız
ne mucizevi bir küfür.

Air vif / Paul Éluard

AIR VIF

J’ai regardé devant moi
Dans la foule je t’ai vue
Parmi les blés je t’ai vue
Sous un arbre je t’ai vue

Au bout de tous mes voyages
Au fond de tous mes tourments
Au tournant de tous les rires
Sortant de l’eau et du feu

L’été l’hiver je t’ai vue
Dans ma maison je t’ai vue
Entre mes bras je t’ai vue
Dans mes rêves je t’ai vue

Je ne te quitterai plus.

AIR VIF

I looked in front of me
In the crowd I saw you
Among the wheat I saw you
Beneath a tree I saw you

At the end of my journeys
In the depths of my torment
At the corner of every smile
Emerging from water and fire

Summer and winter I saw you
All through my house I saw you
In my arms I saw you
In my dreams I saw you

I will never leave you.

AIRE PURO

Miré delante de mí
En el gentío te vi
Entre los trigos te vi
Bajo un árbol te vi

Al término de todos mis viajes
En el fondo de todos mis suplicios
En el recodo de todas las risas
Saliendo del agua y del fuego
Verano invierno te vi

En mi casa te vi
Entre mis brazos te vi
En mis sueños te vi

Siempre permaneceré a tu lado.

Che uscivi dall’acqua e dal fuoco

D’estate e d’inverno ti ho veduta
Nella mia casa ti ho veduta
Tra le mie braccia ti ho veduta
Dentro i miei sogni ti ho veduta

Io non ti lascerò mai più.

DİRİ HAVA

Önüme baktım
Kalabalıkta seni gördüm
Buğdaylar arasında seni gördüm
Bir ağacın altında seni gördüm

Bütün gezilerimin sonunda
Bütün dertlerimin dibinde
Sudan ve ateşten çıkan
Bütün gülüşlerin dönemecinde

Yaz kış seni gördüm
Evimde seni gördüm
Kollarımın arasında seni gördüm
Düşlerimde seni gördüm

Artık bırakmam seni.

Vivre / Paul Éluard

VIVRE

J’ai vécu plusieurs fois mon visage a changé

TO LIVE

We both have our hands to give
Take mine I shall lead you afar

I have lived several times my face hasw changed
With every threshold I have crossed and every hand clasped
Familial springtime was reborn
Keeping for itself and for me its perishable snow
Death and the betrothed
The future with five fingers clenched and letting go

My age always gave me
New reasons for living through others
For having the blood of man other's heart in mine

Oh the lucid fellow I was and that I am
Before the pallor of frail blind girls
Lovelier than the delicate worn moon so fair
By the reflection of life's ways
A trail of moss anf trees
Of mist and morning dew
Of the young body which does not rise alone
To its place on earth
Wind cold and rain cradle it
Summer makes a man of it

Presesence is my virtue in each visible hand
Only death is solitude
From delight to fury from fury to clarity
I make myself whole through all beings
Through all weather on the earth and in the clouds
Through the passing seasons I am young
And strong for having lived
I am young my blood rises over my ruins

We have our hands to entwine
Nothing can ever seduce better
Tahn our bonding to each other a forest
Returning earth to sky and the sky to night

To the night which prepares an unending day.

YAŞAMAK

birbirimize verecek ellerimiz var,
uzaklara götüreyim sizi, tutun elimden.

bunca yaşadım, yüzüm değişti durdu,
aştığım her eşikte, tuttuğum her elde
baktım kardeş bahar daha canlı, daha taze.
kendine ayırdı o iğreti bozgunu, ölümü,
yumulup açılan beş parmaktaki geleceği bana.

yaşadım, gördüm, anladım her şeyi.

her gün, her saat, yerde, gökte,

Tu as toutes les joies solaires
Tout le soleil sur la terre
Sur les chemins de ta beauté.

Paul Éluard - Recueil : "L'Amour la poésie" 1929.

The world is blue as an orange
No error the words do not lie
They no longer allow you to sing
In the tower of kisses agreement
The madness the love
She her mouth of alliance
All the secrets all the smiles
Or what dress of indulgence
To believe in quite naked.

The wasps flourish greenly
Dawn goes by round her neck
A necklace of windows
You are all the solar joys
All the sun of this earth
On the roads of your beauty.

Paul Éluard

La tierra es azul como una naranja
Jamás un error las palabras no mienten
No os dan más al cantar
Al regreso de los besos de escucharse
Los locos y los amores
Ella su boca de alianza
Todos los secretos todas las sonrisas
Y aquellos vestidos de indulgencia
a creerla toda desnuda.

Las avispas florecen verdes
El alba se pasa alrededor del cuello
Un collar de ventanas
Las alas cubren las hojas
Tú tienes todas las alegrías solares
Todo el sol de la tierra
Sobre los caminos de tu belleza.

Non vi fanno più cantare.
E’ il turno dei baci ora intendersi
I folli e gli amori.
Lei le sue labbra complici
Tutti i segreti tutti i sorrisi
E che vestiti indulgenti
Da crederla tutta nuda.

Le vespe sciamano verde.
L’alba si attorciglia sul collo
Una collana di finestre
Ali a coprire le foglie.
Possiedi tutte le gioie solari
Tutto il sole sulla terra
Sui sentieri della tua bellezza.

Dünya portakal rengi dünya mavi
Sözcüklerde yalan yok yanlış yok arama
Artık türküler yakmak yasak size
Sıra koklaşmada şimdi sıra öpüşmede
Haydi çılgınlar, aşıklar haydi
Haydi sevgili
Haydi sevgilinin birleştiren ağzı
Gülümseyin birbirinize dökün içinizi
O ne cömert elbise öyle
Sanacaklar seni çırılçıplak

Çiçek açar yaban arıları yeşil yeşil
Takar boynuna günışığı
Pencerelerden bir gerdanlık
Kanatlar sarar yaprakları

Poema 2 / Pablo Neruda

POEMA 2

Oh grandiosa y fecunda y magnética esclava

POEM 2

The light wraps you in its mortal flame.
Abstracted pale mourner, standing that way
against the old propellers of the twighlight
that revolves around you.

Speechless, my friend,
alone in the loneliness of this hour of the dead
and filled with the lives of fire,
pure heir of the ruined day.

A bough of fruit falls from the sun on your dark garment.
The great roots of night
grow suddenly from your soul,
and the things that hide in you come out again
so that a blue and palled people
your newly born, takes nourishment.

Oh magnificent and fecund and magnetic slave
of the circle that moves in turn through black and gold:
rise, lead and possess a creation
so rich in life that its flowers perish
and it is full of sadness.

Pablo Neruda

Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair, (1924)

POEME 3

Oh solenne e feconda e magnetica schiava

PEBBLE

The pebble
is a perfect creature

equal to itself
mindful of its limits

filled exactly
with a pebbly meaning

with a scent that does not remind one of anything
does not frighten anything away does not arouse desire

its ardour and coldness
are just and full of dignity

I feel a heavy remorse
when I hold it in my hand
and its noble body
is permeated by false warmth

--Pebbles cannot be tamed
to the end they will look at us
with a calm and very clear eye

Zbigniew Herbert

EL GUIJARRO

el guijarro es una criatura
perfecta

igual a sí mismo
guardian de sus fronteras

con precisión repleto
de pétreo significado

con un aroma que a nada recuerda
a nadie espanta no despierta deseos

Zbigniew Herbert

IL CIOTTOLO

Il ciottolo
è una creatura perfetta

uguale a se stesso
attento ai propri confini

esattamente ripieno
di senso pietroso

con un odore che non ricorda nulla
non spaventa nulla non suscita desideri

il suo ardore e la sua freddezza
sono giusti e pieni di dignità

provo un grave rimorso
quando lo tengo nel palmo
e un falso calore
ne pervade il nobile corpo.

I ciottoli non si lasciano addomesticare
fino alla fine ci guarderanno
con un occhio calmo e molto chiaro.

ÇAKIL TAŞI

Kusursuz bir yaratıktır
çakıl taşı

eşittir kendisine
farkındadır sınırlarının

doludur tastamam
çakıllı anlamla

bana hiçbir şey anımsatmayan kokusuyla
ürkütmez hiçbir şeyi uyandırmaz arzuyu

kokusu ve soğukluğu
adil ve saygınlık doludur

ağır bir vicdan azabı duyumsarım
elimde tuttuğum zaman onu
ve onun soylu bedenine
işler sahte sıcaklık

– Evcilleştirilemez çakıl taşları
sonunda bakacaklar bize
dingin ve çok berrak bir gözle

Soneto LII / Pablo Neruda

SONETO LII

Cantas y a sol y a cielo con tu canto
tu voz desgrana el cereal del día,
hablan los pinos con su lengua verde:
trinan todas las aves del invierno.

El mar llena sus sótanos de pasos,
de campanas, cadenas y gemidos,
tintinean metales y utensilios,

SONNET LII

You sing, and under sky and sun with your song
your voice husks the cereal of the day,
the pines speak with their green tongue:
all the birds of winter sing.

The sea fills its cellars with steps,
with bells, chains and moans,
metals and utensils tinkle,
the wheels of the caravan make sound.

But I hear only your voice and your voice
rises with the flight and precision of an arrow,
your voice comes down with the gravity of rain,

your voice scatters highest swords,
your voice returns laden with violets
and then it accompanies me through the sky.

Pablo Neruda - (100 Love Sonnets, 1959)

Translated by Gustavo Escobedo

SONNET LII

You sing, and your voice peels the husk
of the day's grain, your song with the sun and sky,
the pine trees speak with their green tongue:
all the birds of the winter whistle.

The sea fills its cellar with footfalls,
with bells, chains, whimpers,
the tools and the metals jangle,
wheels of the caravan creak.

But I hear only your voice, your voice
soars with the zing and precision of an arrow,
it drops with the gravity of rain,

your voice scatters the highest swords
and returns with its cargo of violets:
it accompanies me through the sky.

Pablo Neruda - (100 Love Sonnets, 1959)

SONETTO LII

Canti e a sole e ciclo col tuo canto
gorgheggiano tutti Il uccelli dell'inverno.

Pablo Neruda - (Cento Sonetti D'amore, 1959)

SONE LII

Şarkınla güneşe, göğe değersin,
sesin dağıtır günün tahılını,
çamlar konuşurlar senin yeşil dilinle:
Şakır kışın bütün kuşları

Dibe inen adımlarıyla da taşkındır deniz,
çanlardan, kalçalardan ve iniltilerden,
şıngırdar metaller ve avadanlıklar,
bir kervan çığrışır bütün kafilesiyle.

Yalnız senin sesini duyarım bense... ve yükselir
sesin kanatlanıp, kaçınılmaz bir oktur kalbime,
yağmurun rehaveti vardır usul sesinde.

Sesin senin, göksel kılıçlar saçar,
menekşeleri ve yoldaşlığı
yüklenip öyle döner.

Soneto LXVI / Pablo Neruda

SONETO LXVI

SONNET LXVI

I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire.

I love you only because it's you the one I love;
I hate you deeply, and hating you
Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
Is that I do not see you but love you blindly.

Maybe January light will consume
My heart with its cruel
Ray, stealing my key to true calm.

In this part of the story I am the one who
Dies, the only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
Because I love you, Love, in fire and blood.

Pablo Neruda - (100 Love Sonnets, 1959)

SONNET LXVI

Ti amo solo perché io ti amo,
senza fine t’odio, e odiandoti ti prego,

perché t’amo, amore, a ferro e fuoco.

Pablo Neruda - (Cento Sonetti D'amore, 1959)

SONE LXVI

Mikhail Lermontov / A Hero of Our Time

"Yes, such has been my lot since childhood. Everyone read signs of non-existent evil traits in my features. But since they were expected to be there, they did make their appearance. Because I was reserved, they said I was sly, so I grew reticent. I was keenly aware of good and evil, but instead of being indulged I was insulted and so I became spiteful. I was sulky while other children were merry and talkative, but though I felt superior to them I was considered inferior. So I grew envious. I was ready to love the whole world, but no one understood me, and I learned to hate. My cheerless youth passed in conflict with myself and society, and fearing ridicule I buried my finest feelings deep in my heart, and there they died. I spoke the truth, but nobody believed me, so I began to practice duplicity. Having come to know society and its mainsprings, I became versed in the art of living and saw how others were happy without that proficiency, enjoying for free the favors I had so painfully striven for. It was then that despair was born in my heart-not the despair that is cured with a pistol, but a cold, impotent desperation, concealed under a polite exterior and a good-natured smile. I became a moral cripple; I had lost one half of my soul, for it had shriveled, dried up and died, and I had cut it off and cast it away, while the other half stirred and lived, adapted to serve every comer. No one noticed this, because no one suspected there had been another half. Now, however, you have awakened memories of it in me, and what I have just done is to read its epitaph to you. Many regard all epitaphs as ridiculous, but I do not, particularly when I remember what rests beneath them. Of course, I am not asking you to share my opinion; if what I have said seems ridiculous to you, please laugh, though I warn you that it will not annoy me in the slightest."

Mikhail Lermontov - (A Hero of Our Time)

“Evet, çocukluğumdan beri kaderim budur zaten!” dedim.

Iría a más lugares adonde nunca he ido, comería
más helados y menos habas, tendría más problemas
reales y menos imaginarios.
solamente buenos momentos.
Por si no lo saben, de eso está hecha la vida, sólo de momentos;
una bolsa de agua caliente, un paraguas y un paracaídas;
Si pudiera volver a vivir, viajaría más liviano.
Si pudiera volver a vivir comenzaría a andar descalzo a principios

INSTANTS

If I could live again my life,
In the next - I'll try,
- to make more mistakes,
I won't try to be so perfect,
I'll be more relaxed,
I'll be more full - than I am now,
In fact, I'll take fewer things seriously,
I'll be less hygenic,
I'll take more risks,
I'll take more trips,
I'll watch more sunsets,
I'll climb more mountains,
I'll swim more rivers,
I'll go to more places - I've never been,
I'll eat more ice creams and less (lime) beans,
I'll have more real problems - and less imaginary
                                          ones,
I was one of those people who live
                prudent and prolific lives -
                        each minute of his life,
Of course that I had moments of joy  - but,
if I could go back I'll try to have only good moments,

If you don't know - thats what life is made of,
Don't lose the now!

I was one of those who never goes anywhere
                without a thermometer,
without a hot-water bottle,
and without an umberella and without a parachute,

If I could live again - I will travel light,
If I could live again - I'll try to work bare feet
at the beginning of spring till
                  the end of autumn,
I'll ride more carts,
I'll watch more sunrises and play with more children,
If I have the life to live - but now I am 85,
        - and I know that I am dying ...

ISTANTI

della loro vita sensati e con profitto;
una borsa dell'acqua calda, un ombrello e un paracadute;
comincerei ad andare scalzo all'inizio

Anlar, sadece anlar. Siz de anı yaşayın.
Hiçbir yere yanında termometre, su, şemsiye ve paraşüt almadan,
Gitmeyen insanlardandım ben.
Yeniden başlayabilseydim eğer, hiçbir şey taşımazdım.
Eğer yeniden başlayabilseydim,
İlkbaharda pabuçlarımı fırlatır atardım.
Ve sonbahar bitene kadar yürürdüm çıplak ayaklarla.
Bilinmeyen yollar keşfeder, güneşin tadına varır,
Çocuklarla oynardım, bir şansım olsaydı eğer.
Ama işte 85'indeyim ve biliyorum...
ÖLÜYORUM...

Jorge Luis Borges

AN'LAR

Daha çok yolculuğa çıkar, gündoğumlarını kaçırmazdım asla;
hele dağlara tırmanmanın keyfini
Hiç bilmediğim yerlere giderdim gidebildiğince.
Doyasıya dondurma yer, boşverirdim fasulyenin nimetlerine.
Öyle bir şansım olsaydı eğer,
dertlerimde yaşamın gerçeğini taşırdı, yalnızca düşlerin değil.
İşte hani onlardan, her dakikasını verimli geçirenlerden biriydim.
Aynı an’lara geri dönebilseydim eğer,
Yalnızca iyi ve güzel olanları tatmak isterdim yeniden.
Öğrenmediyseniz hala, öğrenin artık:
Yaşam an’lardan oluşur. Sadece anlardan...

CASIDA DEL LLANTO

He cerrado mi balcón

CASIDA OF THE WEEPING

I’ve closed my balcony
for I don’t want to hear the weeping,
yet out beyond the grey walls
nothing is heard but weeping.

There are very few angels singing,
there are very few dogs barking,
a thousand violins fit in the palm of my hand.

But the weeping’s a dog, immense,
the weeping’s an angel, immense,
the weeping’s a violin, immense
the tears have silenced the wind,
and nothing is heard but weeping.

Federico García Lorca

Translation by A. S. Kline

THE GUITAR

The cry of the guitar
begins.
The crystals of dawn are
breaking.
The cry of the guitar
begins.
It's useless to stop it.
It's impossible to
stop it.
Its cry monotonous
as the weeping of water,
as the weeping of wind
over the snowfall.
It's impossible to
stop it.
It cries for
distant things.
Sand of the scalding South
seeking white camellias.
It mourns the arrow without target,
evening without morning,
and the first bird dead
upon the branch.
Oh, guitar!
Heart wounded
by five swords.

Federico García Lorca

Translated by Rachel Benson & Robert O'Brien

THE GUITAR

The weeping of the guitar
begins.
The goblets of dawn
are smashed.
The weeping of the guitar
begins.
Useless
to silence it.
Impossible
to silence it.
It weeps monotonously
as water weeps
as the wind weeps
over snowfields.
Impossible
to silence it.
It weeps for distant
things.
Hot southern sands
yearning for white camellias.
Weeps arrow without target
evening without morning
and the first dead bird
on the branch.
Oh, guitar!
Heart mortally wounded
by five swords.

Federico García Lorca

LA CHITARRA

Incomincia il pianto
della chitarra.
Si rompono le coppe
dell'alba.
Incomincia il pianto
della chitarra.
È inutile
farla tacere.
È impossibile
farla tacere.
Piange monotona
come piange l'acqua,
come piange il vento
sulla neve.
È impossibile
farla tacere.
Piange per cose
lontane.
Arena del caldo Meridione
che chiede camelie bianche.
Piange freccia senza bersaglio
la sera senza domani
e il primo uccello morto
sul ramo.
Oh, chitarra,
cuore trafitto
da cinque spade.

Federico García Lorca

GİTAR

Ağlamaya başlıyor
gitar.
kırılıyor
tan kadehleri.
Ağlamaya başlıyor
gitar.
Boş onu susturmak.
Elde değil
onu susturmak.
Tekdüze bir ağlama
su nasıl ağlarsa,
rüzgâr nasıl
yağan karda.
Elde değil
onu susturmak.
Ağhyor
uzak şeyler uğruna.
Beyaz kamelyalar özleyen
sıcak güneyde kumlar.
Hedefsiz ok ağlaması,
sabahsız akşam
ve ilk ölen kuş
dalda.
ah gitar ah,
kötü yaralanmış yürek
beş kılıçla.
