La distraida
No estás ya aquí. Lo que veo
de ti, cuerpo, es sombra, engaño.
El alma tuya se fue
donde tú te irás mañana.
Aún esta tarde me ofrece
falsos rehenes, sonrisas
vagas, ademanes lentos,
un amor ya distraído.
Pero tu intención de ir
te llevó donde querías
lejos de aquí, donde estás
diciéndome:
«aquí estoy contigo, mira».
Y me señalas la ausencia.
Pedro Salinas - Seguro Azar (1929)
Distracted Woman
You aren’t here now. What I can see
of you—your body—is shadow, illusion.
Your soul has gone
where you will go tomorrow.
This afternoon it still offers me
phantom hostages, vague smiles,
languid gestures,
love already distracted. And yet,
your longing to leave has already
taken you where you want to be,
far from here, where you are
saying to me:
“Look! Here I am with you.”
And you show me your absence.
Pedro Salinas

Distracted (Other english translation)
You are no longer here. What I see
of you, body, is shadow, deceit.
Your soul has gone away
where you will go tomorrow.
Yet even this afternoon offers me
false hostages, vague smiles,
slow gestures,
an already distracted love.
But your intention of going
took you where you wanted,
far from here, where you are
saying to me:
"Here I am with you, look."
And you show me your absence.
Pedro Salinas
La distratta
Non sei più qui. Quel che vedo
di te, corpo, è ombra, inganno.
Se n’è andata la tua anima
dove tu sarai domani.
Mi offre ancora il pomeriggio
false garanzie, sorrisi
vaghi, e cenni rallentati,
un amore ormai distratto.
Ma l’intenzione d’andare
ti portò dove volevi,
via da qui, dove ti trovi
e mi dici:
“eccomi qui con te, guarda”.
E mi indichi l’assenza.
