Glück

Solang du nach dem Glücke jagst,
Bist du nicht reif zum Glücklichsein,
Und wäre alles Liebste dein.

Solang du um Verlornes klagst
Und Ziele hast und rastlos bist,
Weißt du noch nicht, was Friede ist.

Erst wenn du jedem Wunsch entsagst,
Nicht Ziel mehr noch Begehren kennst,
Das Glück nicht mehr mit Namen nennst,

Dann reicht dir des Geschehens Flut
Nicht mehr ans Herz – und deine Seele ruht.

Happiness

As long as you chase happiness,
you are not ready to be happy,
even if you owned everything.

As long as you lament a loss,
run after prizes in restless races,
you have not yet known peace.

But when you have moved beyond desire,
become a stranger to your goals and longings
and call no longer on happiness by name,

then your heart rises calmly
above the ebb and flow of action
and peace has reached your soul.

Felicidad

Mientras persigas la felicidad
es que aún no estás maduro para la felicidad,
ni todo lo que amas sería tuyo.

Mientras sigas llorando por lo perdido,
y tengas unas metas y seas infatigable
no sabrás lo que es la paz.

Solo cuando renuncies a todo deseo,
no reconozcas ya ni metas ni apetencias,
no conozcas la felicidad con nombre propio
ni la llames con nombre propio,

solo entonces la marea de los acontecimientos
no alcanzará tu corazón y tu alma descansará.

Felicità

Fin quando dai la caccia alla felicità,
non sei maturo per essere felice,
anche se quello che più ami è già tuo.

Fin quando ti lamenti del perduto
ed hai solo mete e nessuna quiete,
non conosci ancora cos'è pace.

Solo quando rinunci ad ogni desiderio
e non conosci né meta né brama
e non chiami per nome la felicità,

Allora le onde dell’accadere non ti raggiungono più
e il tuo cuore e la tua anima hanno pace.

Mutluluk

Mutluluğu aradığın sürece,
Mutlu olacak kadar olgun değilsindir,
Ve ulaşacak kadar her istediğine.

Kayıplara yakındığın sürece
Ve hedeflerin varsa durmadan yöneldiğin,
Bilemezsin huzur nedir diye.

Vazgeçersen şayet her arzudan,
Ne hedef, ne de istek tanıyıp,
Mutluluğu artık adıyla anmıyorsan,

O zaman olup bitenlerin akışına
Dayanamaz yüreğin ve ruhun erişir huzura.
